Modern music streaming has created a marketplace where artists can find their community on a global scale through apps like Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud etc.
Gone are the days of being dependent on a music label who will distribute and promote an artist in exchange for the lions share of the profits and ownership of their music catalog.
With this fundamental change, the modern DIY musician must fulfill a wide array of roles in order to successfully release their music.
To put it simply…
Songwriting, production, distributing to the streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music and promoting it on social media all fall on the artist. This creates significant barriers to entry.
At Essentials Studio, we get our artists over these barriers by providing access to DIY production equipment and expertise, songwriting support and embellishment, administration of distribution and promotion strategy.
Essentials Studios founder, Phillip Deabreu, through pandemic lockdown in 2020 chose to pursue art and music production. He produced and released the Essentials debut album “Essentials” while living in his car traveling the US. Through the production and promotion process, it was clear that having support from an experienced producer would be valuable as he was spending more time making promotional content for social media than digging deeper into the music. Furthermore, the feeling of internalized dread that comes from content creation burnout was negatively impacting his relationship to music production.
Having a trusted second party to support a DIY artist through this process would fundamentally change the game.
That is the support that this studio aims to supply today.
